Ninja Gaiden 3 (NES)
Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom is a side-scrolling platform video game developed and published by Tecmo. Released for the Famicom in Japan on June 21, 1991, and shortly afterward in North America in August 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), this installment continues the adventures of Ryu Hayabusa. In this game, Ryu seeks to uncover the truth behind the death of Irene Lew.
Gameplay involves classic platforming elements where Ryu can jump, climb, and hang from walls and other structures like pipes or ivy, enhancing his navigational abilities. A new mechanic in this sequel allows Ryu to spring off walls by pressing the jump button while pushing the control pad in the opposite direction of the wall. Ryu can also attack enemies from these positions using secondary weapons, adding a strategic layer to combat.
“Ninja Gaiden III” expands on the series’ rich action-platforming tradition by introducing new movement and combat features, providing a deeper and more engaging gameplay experience as players explore the mystery surrounding Irene’s death.
