Metal Gear (NES)

Metal Gear is a stealth action-adventure video game developed and published by Konami. In the game, players take on the role of Solid Snake, a special forces operative from the unit FOXHOUND. His mission involves a solo infiltration into Outer Heaven, a fortified state, to destroy Metal Gear—a bipedal tank capable of launching nuclear missiles globally—and to rescue captured fellow agents. The game requires players to avoid being seen by guards, with gameplay shifting to “Alert Mode” if detection occurs. During this mode, Snake must evade enemy sight to continue his mission. The tactics for evasion depend on how he was spotted. Metal Gear was highly successful internationally, notably selling 1 million units of the NES version in the United States.
