The Soul of ‘The Nutcracker’ Movie

The Nutcracker evokes such fond memories for me. It was the first ballet my mom took me to see. A dancer myself in my childhood (first ballet, then tap for 11 years), the classic ballet captivated my heart.

The music. The costumes. The dance. The story. All of it.

Now, Disney’s taking a crack at it with the studio’s new film adaptation — The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Without having yet seen the movie, I do know a few things:

1. The film showcases the strength and graceful talent of American ballerina Misty Copeland (a major plus).

2. Some of my favorite British folks play a part (namely Helen Mirren, Matthew Macfadyen, and Jack Whitehall).
3. It looks spectacular (if the official movie trailer and behind-the-scene clips are any indication).

Color me intrigued.

Then, I saw this. Andrea Bocelli singing a song from the film with his son, Matteo.

Andrea and Matteo Bocelli sing “Fall On Me”:

Seeing the bond between the famous Italian tenor and his son as they sing their first duet together warms my heart. It speaks to me of the love of a father for his child. Being a woman of faith (and knowing that Andrea Bocelli is a man of faith), as I listen to him sing the lyrics, I can’t help but also think of God’s guiding light and love for each of us.

God is light, and there is no darkness in Him at all. 1 John 1:5

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. 1 John 4:16

What do you think of this new song from The Nutcracker and the Four Realms?
