Jurassic Park: The Lost World (Sega)

The Lost World: Jurassic Park is an action-adventure video game developed by Appaloosa Interactive and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis. It was released on September 16, 1997, during the twilight years of the console when new game releases were becoming rare.

This game is based on the film “The Lost World: Jurassic Park,” which itself is adapted from Michael Crichton’s novel. It presents a change in gameplay style compared to previous Jurassic Park games on the Genesis, adopting a bird’s-eye view similar to the Jurassic Park game on the Super NES.

Players step into the shoes of an unnamed character tasked with capturing dinosaurs on Isla Sorna. The mission involves stopping rival hunters who aim to transport these dinosaurs to the mainland. The game is structured into nineteen missions divided among four areas of the island, known as Sites One through Four, with boss levels concluding each site.

The game supports two gameplay modes: Cooperative Mode, where players can team up, and Competitive Mode, where they can challenge each other. Players have access to a variety of weapons including tasers, tranquilizer guns, shotguns, and grenades to use against both hunters and dinosaurs. Additionally, certain missions allow players to operate vehicles like an SUV and a hovercraft.
