Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu
Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu is a 2003 action beat ’em up video game available on Xbox, PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance, and GameCube. Developed by Ubi Soft in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics, the game draws inspiration from the series The New Batman Adventures and features many of the original voice actors. The narrative centers on Batman and his allies—Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin—as they combat a new enemy, Sin Tzu, a powerful warlord, during the anniversary of Batman’s parents’ deaths.
The game allows players to choose from Batman, Nightwing, Batgirl, or Robin, and includes a solo mode as well as a four-player cooperative multiplayer option. Players can enhance their characters by unlocking new combat moves as they progress through the story. Additionally, the game offers a challenge mode, where players face off against enemies in a non-story setting, and four levels of difficulty, including a bonus ‘Dark Knight’ level.
The plot unfolds with Batman commemorating the death of his parents when he discovers a series of crimes including kidnappings and massive breakouts from Gotham’s prisons. Teaming up with Commissioner Gordon, Batman battles several notorious villains including Scarecrow and Clayface, the latter attempting to transform Gotham’s citizens into clay creatures. The game climaxes with Batman thwarting Clayface using electricity at the Gotham Chemical Factory.
